COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Terrell Stoglin scored a game-high tying 20 points and Ashton Pankey added 13 to lead Maryland to a 65-61 victory over FIU on Wednesday.
The Terps (6-3) trailed by as many as nine points early in the second half before taking a 49-48 lead with 9:10 on a pair of Sean Mosley free throws.
After a free throw by Stoglin made it 57-52, Jeremy Allen scored off the glass for the Panthers with 1:18 left. The Terrapins then threw the ball away, but FIU (3-7) couldn't score and Pankey sank two free throws for Maryland to make it 59-54 with 38 seconds to go.
The Panthers never got closer than two points the rest of the way.
Mosley added 12 points for the Terps who held a 38-30 edge in rebounding.
Stoglin was saddled with foul trouble in the second half, but still managed 12 points in 11 minutes of action.
Phil Taylor led the Panthers with 20 points and Allen added 18 points. Allen went 4-for-7 on 3-pointers.
The Terps have won three straight games, while the Panthers have dropped four of their last five.
