COLLEGE PARK, Md. -
Maryland's Jordan Williams earned spots on both the FOXSports.com and Yahoo! Sports All-America basketball teams.
Williams, who ranks first in the Atlantic Coast Conference and third nationally in rebounding (11.6 per game), was a third-team selection in announcements Monday by both organizations.
The sophomore is also second in the ACC in shooting percentage (54.1) and sixth in scoring (16.9 points per game). He has posted a single-season school record 23 double-doubles this year, a mark which ranks third nationally.
Williams' 359 rebounds rank fourth on Maryland's all-time single-season chart. He needs just four more to reach second place (Buck Williams, 1980-81). Len Elmore (412 in 1973-74) holds the school record.
Williams was one of eight sophomores, as well as eight players from the ACC, listed on the preseason top 50 for the 2011 John Wooden Award. He was included in the Wooden Award's midseason top 30, as well as the Naismith midseason list.
Williams and the Terps (18-13) open play in the ACC Tournament at 7 p.m. Thursday against NC State. The Terps are seeded No. 7 and the Wolfpack No. 10 in the four-day tournament which is being held in Greensboro, N.C.
