CORAL GABLES, Fla. - Maryland overcame a 16-point second-half deficit and pushed Miami into two overtimes, but the Hurricanes came away with a 90-86 victory Wednesday night in Coral Gables.

Terrell Stoglin scored a career-high 33 points and Alex Len added 11 points, eight rebounds and four blocks to lead the Terps (13-8, 3-4 ACC).

Maryland trailed 62-46 with 7:09 remaining in regulation after Miami's Reggie Johnson had a lay-in, but 23-7 run forced the game into extra time.

Stoglin hit a 3-pointer after Johnson's layup, and Nick Faust threw down a slam to cut the lead to single digits. Minutes later, a personal and technical foul on Johnson contributed to four Maryland free throws to cut the lead to seven, and Ashton Pankey's layup with 5:05 left made it 62-57.

After Miami (13-7, 4-3 ACC) stretched its lead to 69-60 with 3:18 left, the Terps finished the game on a 9-0 run to extend it into overtime, with Stoglin missing a 3-pointer near the end of regulation that would have ended it.

In the first overtime, a three by Stoglin briefly gave Maryland a 72-71 lead, but Miami came back to take a 76-74 lead and after a pair of free throws by Pe'Shon Howard tied it, his missed 3-pointer as time expired sent the game into its second overtime.

Miami scored the first seven points of the second overtime, including two layups by freshman Shane Larkin, who finished with 12 points. That would be enough to help the Hurricanes, who were led by Durand Scott's 24 points, hold off Maryland.

The Terps are next in action on Saturday, when North Carolina visits Comcast Center at 4 p.m.
