WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest twice rallied from a deficit, scoring three runs in both the fifth and sixth innings, and outlasted Maryland for a 9-6 victory Saturday afternoon at Wake Forest Baseball Park.

Maryland (11-3, 0-2 ACC) had also rallied from two deficits - scoring three runs in the fourth for a 3-1 lead, then two runs in the sixth to take a 6-5 lead. But Wake Forest (13-4, 2-0 ACC) tallied three runs in the bottom half of the sixth to take the lead for good.

Terrapin reliever Michael Boyden (2-1) was saddled with the loss after allowing three runs - two of them earned - on three hits in 1 2/3 innings. Starter David Carroll allowed five runs on four hits in four innings but didn't factor into the decision.

Maryland had taken the lead in the fourth inning when they rallied for three runs with two outs. After Kyle Convissar was hit by a pitch, Michael Montville drove him in by hitting his second home run of the season on a shot to left field. K.J. Hockaday then got on base with a walk and was ultimately driven in by Alfredo Rodriguez when he singled up the middle.

The Terps extended their lead to 4-2 in the top of the fifth thanks to a RBI single by Convissar. His base knock scored Charlie White who had reached base on a single and stolen second base.

Wake Forest answered this with three runs in the bottom of the inning. The Demon Deacons led off the inning with three straight singles to load the bases. After Carroll was replaced by Boyden, Wake Forest was able to drive in the three runners with Charlie Morgan's single to right field that scored two and a double play ball that also drove in a run.

The Terps answered in the top of the 6th to take the lead 6-5. K.J. Hockaday singled to start the inning and Tomo Delp drove him in with a two-run homer to left center field, his second of the year.

But the Demon Deacons had their second straight three-run inning in the bottom of the sixth to take the lead for good. Wake Forest sent seven batters to the plate in the inning and scored in part because of two wild pitches and a failed pickoff attempt by the Terps.

Wake Forest's Nate Jones (1-0) earned the win pitching 1 2/3 innings in relief while striking out two batters. Michael Dimock was credited with his fifth save of the season pitching two innings while giving up only one walk.

Maryland and Wake Forest will finish the series Sunday at 1 p.m. with Terrapin RHP Brett Harman (2-0, 0.00) taking on LHP Brian Holmes (3-0, 0.45)
