Gregg Kilby enters his fourth season as the assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the Terps.
Since serving as recruiting coordinator, Kilby has helped to sign four of the most highly-touted classes in Terrapin baseball history. Two members of his first recruiting class were named freshman All-Americans and five sought-after newcomers joined the Terrapins in 2003. Eleven acclaimed recruits will play for the Terrapins in 2004, including several community college transfers. These young recruits will play a significant role for the Terps in years to come. Kilby has already received commitments from five recruits for the 2005 season.
Before coming to Maryland for the 2001 season, Kilby coached Lynn University in its first four seasons of NCAA play. His Lynn teams recorded a 6-4-1 record versus Division I programs including a hard-fought 5-4 loss to defending national champion Miami in 2000.
Kilby led Lynn to a 103-108-1 record as head coach. While at Lynn, his team led the nation in double plays in 1999 and was consistently ranked during his four years. Kilby's teams also performed outside the lines as the program posted an GPA higher than 3.0 during his tenure.
Kilby is a 1991 graduate of Southern Wesleyan University. He lettered in three seasons at Southern Wesleyan and was named team co-captain and all-district in 1991. Kilby began his coaching career on the collegiate level in 1993 at Clemson University as an assistant for two seasons and made a College World Series appearance with the Tigers. Following his stay with the Tigers, Kilby served as the assistant at the University of Nevada for the 1996 season. He and his wife Annie were married in December 2000.
