BETHESDA, Md. - The Maryland men's golf team finished third in the Maryland Terrapin Invitational Tuesday at Woodmont Country Club's North Course.
James Madison won the 11-team field with a score of 581 (294-287), which was five-over overall. Loyola (Md.) finished second with a 588 (295-293). The Terrapins earned a team score of 594 (292-302).
Sophomore David Kocher led the Terrapins and finished fourth in the individual field. He went one-over par on the 36-hole event with a score of 145 (72-73).
“We played a solid round yesterday and felt good about our chances today,” head coach Jason Rodenhaver said. “Give JMU credit, they had a great fall and an under-par round at Woodmont is solid golf. Tim Colanta is starting to break out. He's had a couple great rounds in back to back weeks. We leave for Kiawah Island in a week, and hopefully we can have someone step up in qualifying to give us a solid five for our last fall event.”
Freshman Timothy Colanta tied for 12th overall. He went +4 with a 148 (71-77) in the tournament. Sophomore Joe Brooks tied for 18th with a 149 (74-75), which was +5.
Competing as an individual, freshman Reilly Erhardt shot a 152 (76-76), which was eight-over and tied him for 32nd. Senior Tom Harris shot a 153 (76-77), as did freshman Justin Feldman (75-78).
Freshman Chris Navarro went just one stroke over par in the second round Tuesday to finish with a 155 (82-73) as an individual competitor.
