ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Junior
Saya Usui took home a second place finish in the singles 'B Flight' as the Maryland women's tennis team wrapped up play at the Navy Blue & Gold Invitational on Sunday.
Usui rattled off three consecutive victories to reach the final, but fell to top-seeded Katherine Muzik of Rutgers, 0-6, 4-6.
Maryland's
Anastasiia Gevel also won three singles matches en route to a 'B Flight' consolation win. After falling in her first match, the sophomore was able to earn a win in her next three matches in the consolation bracket. Her consolation final featured an 8-4 win over Jaci Cochrane of Rutgers.
A trio of Terrapins closed out their weekends with victories in exhibition matches. Senior
Millie Stretton topped Hodge of Navy, 8-4, while
Katsiaryna Yemelyanenka bested Hailou of Towson, 6-1, 6-3.
Zoe Kulkarni closed out the weekend with an 8-2 victory over Moore of Navy.
