COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Junior Nick Dunn had a pair of hits and reached base four times as the Maryland baseball team defeated Army, 6-3, Sunday afternoon at Bob “Turtle” Smith Stadium.

The Terrapins (3-4) went down 3-0 after two innings, but scored six unanswered runs to pick up the win. Freshman right-hander Mark DiLuia picked up his first career victory, tossing an inning and a third of scoreless relief after starter Hunter Parsons departed in the fifth.

Army scored their three runs in the top half of the second off Parsons, who was solid in his other innings of work, only allowing three hits. DiLuia and freshman left-hander Sean Fisher tossed solid frames before junior righty John Murphy picked up a two inning save.

Maryland responded to Army's runs with two of its own in the third. Junior Marty Costes was hit by a pitch and then stole second and third. Dunn then doubled down the right field line to bring in Costes. Dunn moved to third on a Taylor Wright flyout and then came to the plate on a wild pitch to make the score 3-2.

Senior Kevin Biondic opened the fourth with a triple and then scored on a Justin Morris groundout. After Tommy Gardiner and Costes were both hit by a pitch, Zach Jancarski walked to load the bases. Dunn then walked to bring home Gardiner.

Freshman Randy Bednar's solo home run gave Maryland some insurance in the seventh. It was the first long ball of the Bethesda native's career. Bednar added another RBI when he walked in the eighth inning to bring home Dunn.

Maryland returns to action Wednesday afternoon at VCU. Action is scheduled to being at 3 p.m. and fans can listen to it live on the Maryland Baseball Network.
