
#10 Maryland Set for Matchup at Ohio State

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The 10th-ranked Maryland women's basketball team will hit the road this week for a pair of Big Ten matchups away from home. First, the Terps (16-2, 5-2 B1G) will play at Ohio State (7-9, 3-4) Thursday at 8 p.m. at Value City Arena in Columbus.

With the Terps' win in their first meeting this year, Maryland owns the series over Ohio State at 7-6. The Terrapins won 75-69 in College Park on Jan. 5. Junior Kaila Charles led the way with 24 points, junior Stephanie Jones added 16 and freshman Taylor Mikesell, a Massillon, Ohio native, scored 13.
The Terps used a 13-3 third quarter run to beat Penn State, 79-67, Sunday in College Park. Mikesell scored a career-high 23 points, Charles added 19 and freshman Shakira Austin added 13 with 10 rebounds. Senior Brianna Fraser chipped in 13 points, 11 in the second half, off the bench.
Fraser was named to the Big Ten Player of the Week Honor Roll Monday for the second time this season. She led the Terrapins with 17.5 points and 4.0 rebounds in two games last week.
Maryland is in the top 10 nationally in rebounds (44.6), rebounding margin (+10.8) and defensive rebounds (31.0). Sophomore Channise Lewis leads the Big Ten in assists (5.3) and assist/turnover ratio (2.7) and Mikesell leads the league in threes made with 56. Freshman Shakira Austin is second in the Big Ten and sixth in the country in total blocks (51). She needs two to break Marissa Coleman's program freshman record of 52. Austin is also third in the Big Ten in rebounds with 10.8 per game.
Maryland is ranked No. 11 in the AP poll and No. 10 in the USA Today Division I Top 25 Coaches Poll.
After Thursday's game, the Terrapins will travel to Indiana (15-3, 4-2) Sunday for a noon matchup. The Terps-Hoosiers matchup will be televised on the Big Ten Network.
