STORYLINES
•  Maryland is 9-3 all-time vs. Rutgers, and is on a six-game win streak vs. the Scarlet Knights since both schools joined the Big Ten in 2014-15.Â
•  Bruno Fernando put together one of the finest games of his freshman season when the teams last met on February 17, 2018, scoring 18 points while adding a then career-high 16 rebounds. Fernando added some spice to the second half of Maryland's 61-51 victory, drilling his first career 3-pointer.
•  Freshman Jalen Smith made a driving layup with 3.8 seconds left to break a tie, and Maryland used a late push to get past No. 24 Nebraska 74-72 their last time out on January 2. Fernando had 18 points and a career-high 17 rebounds, Anthony Cowan Jr. scored 19 points and Smith accounted for Maryland's final seven points to finish with 15.
•  Cowan made all three of his three-pointers vs. the Cornhuskers in the second half, with two of them coming in the  final six minutes of play. Cowan also finished with zero turnovers and four assists in 36 minutes of action. Â
•  Fernando's 17 rebounds in the victory over the Cornhuskers were the most by a Terrapin since Charles Mitchell finished with 18 at NC State on January 20, 2014. He is the first Terrapin to finish with at least 18 points and 17 rebounds in a game since Jordan Williams totaled 21 points and 17 rebounds in Maryland's 89-77 victory over Houston in the 2010 NCAA Tournament.
•  Maryland currently plays one of the youngest lineups in the country, ranking 349th of 353 teams in KemPom's experience metric. Maryland has started at least two freshmen in 10 games this season, while three freshmen average over 25 minutes a game and five average at least 10 minutes a game.Â
•  Freshman Ricky Lindo Jr. stepped up in Jalen Smith's absence (illness) in Maryland's 78-64 win over Radford, posting career-highs in both points (8) and rebounds (10). The Washington, D.C.Â
native logged over 20 minutes for the second time this season, and added two blocks in the victory.Â
•  Against Radford, Lindo Jr. (10) and Fernando (12) became the first Terp duo to finish with double figures in the same game since Evan Smotrycz (12) and Charles Mitchell (10) vs. Morgan State (11/29/2013).
•  Senior walk on Andrew Terrell was surprised by Coach Turgeon with an athletic scholarship for his final semester of eligability at a team meeting on Dec. 28.Â
