COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The No. 7 Maryland men's basketball team looks to jump out to a 3-0 record as it hosts Oakland in College Park Saturday at noon. The game will be streamed live on BTN+. The Terps have started the season 3-0 five straight years dating back to 2014-15.

STORYLINES
• Maryland and Oakland have met just once previously, with the Terps earning a 72-56 victory Dec. 27, 2014 in College Park. Jake Layman had 15 points and 12 rebounds in the win, while Melo Trimble added 17 points and three assists.

• Sophomore Jalen Smith has recorded a double-double in both games to open the season, and is averaging 17.5 points and 11.0 rebounds through two games. He is the first Terrapin to open the season with back-to-back double-doubles since Jordan Williams in 2010. Smith is also one of two players in the Big Ten to open the season with two double-doubles this year (Kofi Cockburn - Illinois).

• The Terrapins jumped out to a 2-0 record on the season with an 18-point victory over Rhode Island last Saturday. Maryland turned the ball over just three times in a dominant second half. Jalen Smith finished with 19 points and 11 boards, while Aaron Wiggins recorded his first career double-double with 13 points and 13 boards.

• Maryland ranks among the conference's best in both blocks and rebounds through the first two games. The Terps lead the conference in rebounding (45.0/g), as Jalen Smith (11.0/g) and Aaron Wiggins (9.0/g) have led the way. Smith's five blocks have also sparked Maryland's 6.5 blocks/g, which rank second in the Big Ten and 29th nationally.

• Maryland is 47-6 in non-conference home games at the XFINITY Center in the past six seasons. The Terps are 32-6 overall at home over the last two seasons.

• Senior Anthony Cowan Jr. scored 14 points, all in the second half, against Rhode Island to move past Dez Wells into 21st on Maryland's all-time scoring list (1401). Cowan needs 14 points to pass James Gist (2004-2008) and move into the top-20. Cowan is one of just three players in program history with 1,400 points and 440 rebounds (Greivis Vasquez, John Lucas).
