
Top-seeded Terps Set for Big Ten Semifinals

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The top-seeded Maryland field hockey squad (16-2) will take on fifth-seeded Penn State (7-11) Friday at 4 p.m. in the Big Ten Semifinals. The Terps and the Nittany Lions will meet at the Penn State Field Hockey Complex in State College, Pa.

Penn State beat 10th-ranked and fourth-seeded Michigan, 2-1, Thursday in the Big Ten Quarterfinals. The Terrapins beat then-No. 25 Penn State, 3-1, in College Park on Sept. 20.
The Terrapins finished 7-1 in Big Ten play this season to win the Big Ten regular season title. Maryland has won 26 conference titles, including the 2014, 2015, 2016, 2018 and 2019 titles since joining the Big Ten.
Last year, the Terps took the Big Ten regular season title and won the Big Ten Tournament title with a 2-1 win over No. 8 Iowa in the final.
Three Terrapins earned All-Big Ten honors Wednesday. Senior Madison Maguire, junior Bodil Keus and freshman Emma DeBerdine were recognized by the league. Maguire was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year and Keus was voted Defensive Player of the Year by the league's head coaches. Maguire, Keus and DeBerdine were named to the All-Big Ten First Team.
