COLLEGE PARK, Md.  – The top-seeded Maryland women's basketball team (26-3) will play No. 9 seeded Michigan State (20-10) Friday at noon in the Big Ten Tournament Quarterfinals at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. The Terps' matchup will be televised around the world on the Big Ten Network.

The Terrapins won the Big Ten title outright Saturday. It marks Maryland's fourth title in five years in the league, 10th conference title under head coach
Brenda Frese and 20th league title in program history.

Brenda Frese was voted Big Ten Coach of the Year, for the third time in her career, by her peers and the media.
Taylor Mikesell was voted Big Ten Freshman of the Year by the league's head coaches. She also earned All-Big Ten First Team honors by the media and Second Team honors by the coaches.

Kaila Charles was a unanimous First Team selection.
Stephanie Jones earned All-Big Ten Honorable Mention honors by the coaches and Second Team honors by the media.
Shakira Austin earned Honorable Mention honors by the media and was named to the All-Big Ten Defensive Team. She and Mikesell made the All-Big Ten Freshman team.

Maryland is 11-1 all-time in the Big Ten Tournament after winning the 2015, 2016 and 2017 Tournament titles. The Terps are 8-1 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse and Frese is 11-2 in the Big Ten Tournament.

Mikesell has made 86 three-pointers this year and needs to make just six to top the program season record of 91 made by Kristi Toliver in 2008-09. Austin has 77 blocks this season and needs just four to top the program season record of 80 by Kris Kirchner in 1978-79.

Maryland is 13th in the country and leads the Big Ten in rebounding margin (+9.2). The Terps are No. 17 nationally in FG percentage (.461). Sophomore
Channise Lewis leads the Big Ten in assist/turnover ratio (2.7). Mikesell leads the league and is No. 20 nationally with her three-point percentage of .430. She leads the Big Ten with 86 threes made. Austin is second in the Big Ten and No. 7 in the country in total blocks (77).

In her 17 years at Maryland, Frese has led the Terps to a record of 455-122 (.789). She owns a record of 512-152 (.771) over her 20-year coaching career. Frese has led Maryland to 14 NCAA Tournaments in her 16 post seasons, three Final Fours, six Elite Eights, eight Sweet Sixteens and 10 conference titles.

As a program, Maryland has earned a record of 998-425 (.701) and needs two wins to reach 1,000. Only 11 Division I women's basketball programs have reached 1,000 wins.
