Maryland Lands Three on Tewaaraton Watch List

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Jared Bernhardt, Bubba Fairman and Logan Wisnauskas were all named to the 2020 Tewaaraton Watch List as announced by the foundation Thursday.

The 2020 Tewaaraton Award Ceremony will be held on May 28 at the Smithsonian Institution National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C.

Bernhardt returns to the watchlist a year removed from being named one of five finalists for the honor in 2019. Bernhardt was just the fourth Maryland player in history to be selected as a finalist, joining Connor Kelly (2018), Matt Rambo (2017) and Joe Walters (2006). Rambo became the first recipient of the award in program history in 2017.

Bernhardt is off to another solid start in 2020, coring seven goals to go with two assists after two games.

The Longwood, Fla. Native put together one of the finest offensive seasons in Terrapin history in 2019 where he was named a Tewaaraton Finalist, USILA All-American, Inside Lacrosse Media All-American and First Team All-Big Ten selection. Bernhardt established himself as one of the nation's most productive players, leading the Terps in goals (51) while ranking second in points (78).

Fairman garners his first appearance on the Tewaaraton Watch list after being named a preseason All-American and All-Big Ten selection by Inside Lacrosse ahead of his junior season.

Fairman shined despite increased defensive attention in 2019 to earn USILA All-America honors, posting a career-high 42 points which ranked fourth on the team. The midfielder posted four hat tricks on the year, including three-goal, one-assist performance in Maryland's OT win over Towson in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament.

The Sandy, Utah native has posted two goals and five assists through two games to start the season.

Wisnauskas has started his 2020 campaign on a tear, leading the team in both goals (9) and points (14) through two games. The Sykesville, Md. native has posted seven points in back-to-back games for the Terps – the first Maryland player to do so since 2018 Tewaaraton finalist Connor Kelly.

Wisnauskas was tabbed a USILA Honorable Mention Al-American for the first time last season after a record-breaking sophomore campaign in College Park. The Sykesville, Md. native led the Terps in points (79), which broke the Maryland record for points by a sophomore set back in 1965 (74) back Jack Heim. Wisnauskas became the first Terrapin to ever post back-to-back 50-point seasons as a freshman and sophomore.
