
Maryland to Face Ohio and Penn State

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- The Maryland women's tennis team is set to face No. 8 Ohio State on Friday, Feb. 18 for its season home opener at 10:00 a.m. The Terps will then face Penn State at home on Sunday, Feb. 21 at 2:00 pm. Both matches will occur in the Junior Tennis Champions Center.
The Buckeyes (5-2) will face the Terrapins (0-2) coming off a 7-0 win against Indiana. No. 89 sophomore Ayana Akli and Eva Alexandrova have proved successful for Maryland in singles play, both 2-0 for the season at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots, respectively. Against Michigan, Akli defeated Chiara Lommer in two sets (6-0, 6-4), while Alexandrova defeated Kari Miller in two (6-2, 6-4).
Maryland will then compete against Penn State (3-1) on Sunday, their first matchup since March 31, 2017 where the Terps defeated the Nittany Lions 4-3.
