COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Daniel Maltz tied his career-high with five goals to lead the #5 Maryland men's lacrosse team to a 20-9 season-opening win over Michigan Saturday afternoon at Capital One Field at Maryland Stadium.
Racking Up The Goals
• Logan Wisnauskas added three goals and an assist for the Terrapins, while Anthony DeMaio tacked on a pair of goals and a game-high three assists.
• Eleven different Terps scored goals in the win and 13 tallied at least a point.
• The 20 goals were the most Maryland has scored in a Big Ten Conference game since joining the league in 2014 and the most in any conference game since crushing Duke, 25-7 in 1983.
• The 11-goal victory margin was also the largest in any conference game since that 18-goal win 38 years ago.
Season-Opener Dominance
• Maryland has now won 28 consecutive season-opening games dating back to the 1994 season.
• The Terps are 92-3-1 all-time in season openers dating to the program's first season of 1924.
• Maryland has now scored 20 or more goals in back-to-back season openers, winning last year's opener, 23-12.
