
Maryland to Honor Seniors in Season Finale

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland softball will face Indiana for its regular season series finale at home, coming off of a 3-1 series win over Rutgers. The Terps will honor its six seniors in Miccaela Abbatine, Jennifer Brann, JoJo McRae, Sammie Stefan, Taylor Wilson and Shelby Younkin.
A standout pitcher for the Terps, Jennifer Brann has made her addition to Maryland seamless. Jennifer has started in over ten games this season, and recorded wins for Maryland in more than half. The Terp has made her way into the season record book, with her 50+ strikeouts marking a 2021 team-high, and her game-ending strikeout against the No. 24 Minnesota Golden Gophers helped Maryland take home their first ranked win in several seasons.
Despite battling through injuries throughout her career, Shelby Younkin's perseverance to always come back has been an inspiration. With over 40 career starts, Shelby has consistently made crucial plays for the Terps, including a hit in Maryland's first ever Big Ten/ACC Challenge win over Pitt last season. Shelby has also been recognized for her efforts in the classroom, earning an Academic All-Big Ten selection this past year

2021 SENIORS
Michaela abbatine
After joining the Maryland softball program in 2019, Micaela Abbatine has made her mark in her time as a Terp. With over 40 career starts, Micaela has been an integral part of Maryland's success both at the plate and in the field, earning her a Big Ten All-Defensive Team selection. Abbatine went 3-3 with a home run, two RBIs, a run scored and a stolen base in win over Rhode Island back in 2019, and added her third career homer against Nebraska the same season. As a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and team captain, Michaela has exemplified what it means to be a student-athlete.

jennifer brann

jojo mcrae
A steady presence in the outfield and a force at the plate, JoJo McRae has been part of the glue that holds Maryland Softball together. With over 80 career starts and 100 appearances, JoJo has made her presence known, having led the team in batting average,and runs scored in multiple seasons. JoJo's speed is unmatched, having also led the team in stolen bases, setting a standard of excellence for future Terps to come

Sammie stefan
Seeing starts in all four years, Sammie Stefan has been an outstanding and versatile member of the Maryland softball program. With over 80 appearances under her belt, Sammie has previously led the team in doubles, home runs, total bases and slugging percentage, earning her an All-Big Ten Second Team selection. Her grand slam in this year's game against Rutgers was the key play in helping the Terps defeat the Scarlet Knights 6-2, with Maryland ultimately taking the series. Off the field, Sammie has excelled in the classroom with a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar award, and has been an incredible liaison with Team Impact

TAYLOR WILSON
An inspiration on and off the diamond, Taylor Wilson has shown what it truly means to be a Terp. With over 50 hits at the plate, and 40+ starts at first base, Taylor has been a force for Maryland on each side of the ball. Off the field, Taylor has been an incredible member of her community and school, having served as a Gossett Fellow, Maryland Made intern, SAAC Executive Board member, and currently sits on the Big Ten Conference Anti-Hate and Anti-Racism Coalition student-athlete representative

SHELBY YOUNKIN
