Maryland Tops Indiana in Double-Header

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland softball took its double-header against Indiana on Saturday, giving them a 2-1 lead in the series.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • GAME 1
    • The Terps got on the board first and early after Jaeda McFarland got on base with an infield single, coming all the way back around after a wild pitch from the Hoosiers
    • Both teams went scoreless for four straight innings, until Indiana got on the board in the top of the sixth after a defensive error and double to center field to tie things up at one a piece
    • Maryland answered back in the bottom of the same frame, putting up two runs on a hit from Taylor Ligouri to put the Terps back in the lead 3-1
    • Courtney Wyche pitched a full game, striking out six Hoosiers in the process and allowing just two hits
  • GAME 2
    • Maryland came out with the same offensive effort as the first game of the day, scoring two runs on two hits along with a defensive error to give the Terps a 2-0 lead in the first frame
    • After both teams retired in order, Maryland added another run to the board in the bottom of the third after a single from Taylor Okada and a sac fly from Taylor Ligouri sent JoJo McRae home to bring things to 3-0
    • The Terps then put up a run in their next two appearnces, where they shut the Hoosiers out 5-0
