The Whips are headed back to the 'ship! The incredible postseason run for the league's two-time defending champions marched on last weekend, as the Whipsnakes defeated Waterdogs 14-10 in the Premier Lacrosse League's semifinal round. The Whipsnakes were paced by early goals from Mike Chanenchuk, Matt Rambo and Jay Carlson, who all finished with multi-point outings. Rambo scored one of the most impressive goals of the season in the first quarter, placing a left-handed shot from the right wing perfectly into the near side upper-90 past the Waterdogs keeper.

Carlson added his own highlight-reel goal in the third quarter, scoring his third of the day on a bobbled pass and through-the-legs finish to help put the game out of reach. Rambo would also add two assists, while Chanenchuk finished with a goal and assist on the day.
The Terps-laden defensive unit of Tim Muller, Matt Dunn, Bryce Young, Michael Ehrhardt, Jake Bernhardt and Nick Manis was steady throughout the semifinal matchup, holding the Waterdogs to just one goal in the third quarter to help the offense create separation.

Brian Phipps impressed in his first career PLL start, making 13 saves for a 57% save percentage. After being released by the Redwoods and joining the Whips halfway through the season, the former All-American Terp goalie and assistant coach has come through big time for the Whips in the postseason.
