COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- The Terrapins volleyball team was recognized with the USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award today, the organization announced.

Awarded to teams maintaining at least a 3.3 cumulative team GPA, the honor is sponsored by the American Volleyball Coaches Association in conjunction with the United States Marine Corps. 

Earlier this summer three Terps were recognized as Big Ten Distinguished Scholars while in December 2020 seven volleyball student-athletes were named Fall Academic All-Big Ten selections. 

As a whole the University of Maryland Athletics programs combined for a 3.338 GPA this past spring, the 10th consecutive semester the department had an overall cumulative GPA over 3.0.
