Graduate Transfer Paula Neciporuka Joins Terrapins

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- The Terrapins volleyball program has added graduate transfer Paula Neciporuka, head coach Adam Hughes announced on Thursday.
"This offseason we looked to add both depth and experience to our very young roster. Paula is somebody that helps us in both of these areas," Hughes said. "She was an All-Conference collegiate player and has competed for Latvia on the international level. We're thrilled to have her joining our program and can't wait to have her here in College Park."
A Kuldiga, Latvia, native, Neciporuka is an accomplished representative of her home nation on European and International levels. Throughout this summer she's been competing in the CEV Volleyball European Super League seeing extensive action for the Latvian Senior National Team.
In the past she has captained the Latvian Indoor U17, U19, and U20 teams while leading her squad to the 2015 Latvian Championship. Successful on the beach too, Neciporuka won the European U18 Beach Volleyball Championship before placing fifth at the World U19 Beach Volleyball Championships.
A versatile 5-foot-9 outside hitter, Neciporuka comes to College Park from VCU where she was a four-year letterwinner amassing 573 digs, 560 kills, and 87 total blocks in 304 sets as a Ram. This past season she was top-ten among Atlantic-10 foes in kills per set, aces, and total points.
As a junior in 2019 she competed in the NCAA Tournament against Cincinnati where she recorded six kills and ten digs.
Neciporuka was named to the 2019 and 2021 Atlantic 10 Conference All-Academic Teams on her way to graduating from VCU with a degree in Health, Physical Education, and Exercise Science. In College Park she will pursue a Master's of Science in Business and Management.
This is the third transfer of the offseason for Hughes and his staff after adding Hannah Thompson from Notre Dame and Kaylee Thomas from Alabama earlier this summer.
