Kyle Cochran Wins Southern Scuffle Title

CHATTANOOGA, TN -- Maryland 184-pounder Kyle Cochran took home the 2022 Southern Scuffle Title, presented by Compound Sportstwear, as the squad finished in 13th place in the team race with 43 points.
Kyle Cochran, the team's lone semifinalist entering the day, made is way to the Championship Bout with a dominant 6-4 victory over former All-American No.14 Hunter Bolen with over 2:50 of riding time. In the evening's finale he topped No.13 Jon Loew of Cornell by a 4-1 decision with over two minutes of riding time once again. The victory was Cochran's third consecutive over a ranked opponent all while not allowing an offensive point.
The team had two total placers between Cochran and 197-pound Jaron Smith. Smith began the day defeating teammate freshman Jaxon Smith before falling to Northern Colorado's Alan Clothier and pinning Minnesota's Garrett Joles.
