Shaw Named Big Ten Player of The Week

COLLEGE PARK, MD -- The Big Ten named infielder Matt Shaw the Big Ten Player of The Week, the conference announced on Wednesday.
Shaw earned the honor after he collected seven hits over the weekend in Maryland's sweep of Baylor, going 1-3 with a walk and a run scored in Friday's 4-0 win, 4-5 with two RBIs, a stolen base, and a run scored in Saturday's 9-5 win and finishing the weekend going 2-5 with two towering home runs in Sunday's 9-5 win.
In his three games against the Bears, Shaw batted a staggering .539 with an on-base percentage of .571, a slugging percentage of 1.077, and an OPS of 1.648. He also played a clean series defensively with five putouts, six assists, and no errors at shortstop.
Last season, Shaw earned Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors on May 25th, en route to being named a 2021 Perfect Game Second Team Freshman All-American, 2021 Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-American, and to the 2021 Big Ten All-Freshman Team.
Shaw was also named Solomon Eye Associates Terp of the Week which is given to a player who has shown excellence on and off the playing field.
