COLLEGE PARK, MD – Left-handed pitcher Ryan Ramsey has been named the Big Ten Pitcher of The Week, the conference announced on Wednesday.
Ramsey earned the honor after a stellar game against Cornell, where he set a new career-high with 13 strikeouts while surrendering just one hit and giving up no runs over six innings.
The Montvale, New Jersey, native has been impressive in his first year as a full-time starter as he has compiled 26 strikeouts in 25.1 innings to go along with a 2.84 ERA and a Big Ten best four wins.
Last season, Ramsey was one of Maryland's best pitchers out of the bullpen when he went a perfect 5-0 on the mound with two saves and a team-high 1.67 ERA. Ramsey earned NCAA Greenville Regional All-Tournament Team honors and Second Team All-Big Ten honors for his 2021 campaign.
Ramsey was also named Solomon Eye Associates Terp of the Week, which is awarded to a player who has shown excellence on and off the playing field.
