CHARLOTTE, NC – The Maryland softball team fell to the Villanova Wildcats, 8-7, on Saturday afternoon in the Queen City Classic. The Terps (9-9) were stunned in the later innings after leading 4-0 and 7-4, but a four run sixth inning by Villanova completed the comeback and down Maryland.
Maryland jumped on the Wildcats in the first inning, scoring three runs on five hits. The Terps would add another run in the second to take a 4-0 lead.
Villanova would answer in the later innings, scoring one in the fifth and three in the sixth to knot the game at four, and put up for runs in the sixth inning.
Taylor Liguori finished with two RBIs, while
Taylor Okada,
Michaela Jones,
Ruby Butler and Kerr all had one.
Trinity Schlotterbeck pitched five innings and struck out six.
