Twelve Terps Named USILA All-Americans

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Led by Logan WisnauskasRoman PugliseLuke Wierman, and Brett Makar on the first team, 12 Terps were named USILA All-Americans, the organization announced Thursday afternoon. Logan Wisnauskas was also named Lt. Raymond J. Enners Outstanding Player of the Year.

The 12 selections lead all schools and give Maryland 516 USILA All-Americans in program history. Coach Tillman has coached 79 All-Americans since his arrival in 2011, 13 more than the next closest program.

The Terps had 12 named Inside Lacrosse All-Americans and seven named to the US Lacrosse Magazine All-American list this spring.

Wisnauskas, selected first overall in the 2022 Premier Lacrosse League Draft earlier this month, leads the Terrapins in points this season (95) and career points in program history (332). With 199 career goals, he's looking to become the sixth player in NCAA men's lacrosse history to break the 200-goal barrier.

Wisnauskas has earned 2022 Big Ten Tournament MVP, the 2022 Big Ten Medal of Honor, and was named 2022 Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year.

Puglise joined Wisnauskas in the first round as he does now on the first team. Puglise was a first-team All-Big Ten selection and was the 2021 Big Ten Medal of Honor recipient. He leads all defensive Terps with ten goals and 13 points while still grabbing 35 GB and forcing 11 turnovers.

Faceoff specialist Luke Wierman has already set season records for faceoffs won (272) and faceoffs taken (409) in a season with time left to add. Defenseman Brett Makar is the leader of a stout Terrapins defense allowing foes only 9.2 goals per game as he individually has racked up 29 GB, 15 CT, and his first career goal.

Jonathan Donville was the lone Terp on the Second Team after a season with 29 goals, 20 assists, and 49 points in the midfield. The top pick in the 2021 NLL Draft, Donville was named 2022 All-Big Ten Second Team in his first season as a Terp and was also a PLL draft pick.

Ajax Zappitello found his way onto the Third Team as he led the Terps with 22 CT and also had 19 GB.

Logan McNaneyKyle Long, Anthony DeMaioBubba FairmanKeegan Khan, and John Geppert also earned honorable mention All-American status.

McNaney has been a steadying presence in goal with 164 saves on a 57.5 percent rate. He has twice registered 14 saves in May, first against Johns Hopkins in the Big Ten Semifinals and against Virginia in the NCAA Quarterfinals. He sits 12th all-time in Terps history with 353.

Long has racked up 16 goals, 21 assists, and 37 points out of the midfield this season. His partner in crime, DeMaio, has 29 goals, 19 assists, and 48 points including hat tricks in all four postseason games so far this year.

After transitioning to SSDM, Fairman has scooped 30 GB and forced 12 turnovers along with six offensive points.

John Geppert, a 2022 Second Team All-Big Ten, scored five goals this season to go alongside 45 GB and 11 CT. Geppert has started every game as an LSM and also has six points.

On attack, Khan is second on the team with 32 goals, 26 assists, and 58 points. He has also grabbed 23 GB.

Maryland travels to East Hartford, CT, for a meeting with the No. 5-seed Princeton Tigers on May 28 at 2:30 p.m., in a game that will air on ESPN2.
