As a freshman in 2019:
• Started all 17 games during first collegiate season at close defense.
• Grabbed 25 ground balls and caused four turnovers.
• Posted season-high four ground balls and caused a turnover vs. third-seeded Virginia in NCAA Quarterfinal (5/18).
• Caused a turnover and had two ground balls vs. Michigan (4/6).
• Picked up three ground balls vs. Villanova (3/16).
• Grabbed three ground balls at Navy (2/23).
• Made first career start in season opener vs. Bucknell, causing a turnover and scooping two ground balls (2/2).
Before Maryland:
• Graduated from Yorktown High School in Yorktown Heights, New York.
• A five-star recruit according to Inside Lacrosse, ranked the No. 4 overall player and No. 2 defenseman in the class of 2018.
• An Under Armour All-American and a two-time US Lacrosse All-American.
• Second team All-USA Today.
• Also starred at running back for the football team.
Personal:
• Son of Liz and Keith Makar.
• Has three brothers.
• Oldest brother Keith has autism, and is a source of inspiration and motivation in his life.
• Older brother Tyler played lacrosse at St. Joseph's from 2017-21.
• Named after Brett Favre and is a big Packers fan.
• Enjoys watching Packers games with his dad.
• Loves watching college football and ESPN College Gameday during the fall.
• Earned B.A. from Maryland in Communication in 2022.
• Pursuing Master's in Business & Management from Smith Business School at Maryland.
