MAJOR: Sociology

As a graduate (2022): Finished eighth on team with 31 groundballs....Picked up four ground balls in win over Notre Dame (3/5)... Picked up three ground balls and forced a turnover to help defeat Albany (3/12)... Three ground ball pickups in win over Johns Hopkins (5/5)...Snagged two ground balls in Big Ten title game against Rutgers (5/7)...Two GB in quarterfinals victory over Virginia (5/22)...Grabbed five groundballs over Championship Game weekend as Terps won the title (5/28-30)...

As a senior (2021): Played in nine games before suffering a season-ending injury…one of team’s primary SSDMs before injury…picked up 12 ground balls and caused a turnover…scored a goal and grabbed season-high three ground balls in season-opener vs. Michigan (2/20)…notched an assist vs. Penn State (4/3)... 

As a junior (2020): Played in all six games as key member of the team’s short stick defensive midfield rotation…tied for third on the team in caused turnovers (4)…took a shot a tallied a ground ball in Maryland debut vs. High Point (2/1)…caused a turnover and picked up three ground balls at Richmond (2/8)…tallied three ground balls and caused a turnover vs. Penn (2/15)…caused two turnovers and grabbed two ground balls at Villanova (2/18)…picked up a ground ball vs. Albany (3/7). 

As a sophomore at Cleveland State (2019): Played in all 15 games … Was second on the team with 43 ground balls … Added four goals, two assists and six caused turnovers … Helped CSU lead Division I in opponent clear percentage (.707) … Also helped the Vikings rank among top 20 nationally in scoring defense (10.27) and man-down defense (.698) … Tallied a goal, an assist and four ground balls in win vs. Canisius (4/2) … Also had a goal and an assist against nationally ranked North Carolina (3/17) … Posted a season-high seven ground balls at Mercer (3/2) … Also scored goals at nationally ranked Denver (2/24) and against NCAA qualifier Robert Morris (4/13) … Had at least one ground ball in 14 of 15 games … Took 16 shots on season.

As a freshman at Cleveland State (2018): Played in all 14 games … Started four contests at midfielder … Had seven points, 24 ground balls and six caused turnovers on the season … Had multi-goal games March 4 at Canisius and March 13 vs. Lafayette … Notched a goal and an assist, his first two collegiate points, at Michigan (2/10) … Won 5-of-9 faceoffs, tallied an assist and added three ground balls at Bellarmine (2/17) … Contributed four ground balls and a caused turnover against No. 3 Duke (3/18) … Made his collegiate debut in season opener against nationally ranked Ohio State (2/3) … Made first career start at Canisius.

Before Maryland: Transferred from Cleveland State University...Owned 127 goals, 34 assists and 316 ground balls in his career for Gerstell … Named all-county and earned All-Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association honors in each of his final two years … Helped Falcons to MIAA B Conference title game in 2017 and a 16-3 overall record … Scored three goals and won 22 faceoffs in that championship contest … Earned Gerstell's Falcon award after his junior season, which is given to the team's biggest leader as voted on by fellow players … Also won the team’s Coaches Award … Was a two-year captain … Competed for Baltimore Breakers on club scene … Also played basketball and soccer and was all-conference in the latter sport … Member of the National Spanish Honor Society … Was a student government representative for his high school class for multiple years.

Personal: Son of Rudy and Erin Higgins … Has an older brother, Ben, and younger brother, Seth … His brother Ben played midfield at Limestone College and won a Division II national championship in 2015.
