Logan Wisnauskas Nominated for 2022 ESPY

BRISTOL, Ct. - Legendary Maryland lacrosse attackman Logan Wisnauskas has been named a 2022 ESPY nominee, ESPN announced Tuesday.

Nominated for "Best College Athlete, Men's Sports," Wisnauskas led the Terrapins to the 2022 National Championship as the sport's first undefeated champions since 2006. The team's 18 wins are the most by an undefeated champion in history.

Wisnauskas is Maryland lacrosse's second-ever nominee after Matt Rambo was nominated in 2017 after also winning the Tewaaraton and a title. Juan Dixon was Maryland's first-ever ESPY nominee in 2002 leading Maryland the 2002 National Championship. Only four other schools have had at least three nominees in the category: Ohio State, Oklahoma, Alabama, and Duke.

The award show will be held on July 20.

The top pick in the 2022 PLL Draft, he earned the 2022 Tewaaraton Award Winner and Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year. With an incredible season on his resume, he was a unanimous All-American and also named Lt. Raymond J. Enners Outstanding Player of the Year by the USILA.

Wisnauskas rocketed up the record books this season. He became the record-holder for points in a season (103), goals in a career (205), and points in a career (340). He finishes his career fourth all-time in career goals and 11th all-time in career points among all NCAA Division I men's lacrosse players.

He is an eight-time Big Ten offensive player after earning three more this season. He has 12 overall Big Ten Weekly honors. More importantly, he earned his third Big Ten regular season title and second Big Ten Tournament title. He was MVP of the Big Ten Tournament.

Wisnauskas is joined on the nominee list by Bryce Young (Alabama Football), Chet Holmbren (Gonzaga Men's Basketball), and Dante Polvara (Georgetown Men's Soccer.) Past award winners include Tim Tebow, John Wall, and most recently DeVonta Smith.

The last time a non-football or basketball player won the award was the first year, 2002, when wrestler Cael Sanderson earned the honor.
