COLLEGE PARK, MD - The 2022 PLL Semifinals have arrived in Washington D.C. and the playoff action will feature plenty of Terrapin alumni.
The first game of Sunday's doubleheader will feature Waterdogs LC facing Whipsnakes LC on ABC and ESPN+ with 17 combined Hardshells on the two rosters.
The afternoon finale will feature Chaos LC and Archers LC. Both games will be played at Audi Field, the home of DC United.
Waterdogs
Connor Kelly leads the Waterdogs midfield with 26 points, including a league-best four two-point goals. Not only making an impact offensively, Kelly is fourth on the squad with 14 GB.
Alongside Kelly in the midfield is rookie Jake Higgins. Since joining the Waterdogs midway through the season, Higgins has notched an assist alongside eight GB and five CT.
After a 5-5 regular season, the Waterdogs advanced to this weekend's semifinals with a 19-14 victory over Atlas LC.
Whipsnakes
Atop the league standings throughout the season, Whipsnakes LC earned a bye week to the 2022 Semifinals after a 9-1 regular season. Outsourcing foes by 20 goals over the year, the two-time PLL Champions are seeking a third trophy this month.
On attack, Matt Rambo and Jay Carlson lead the team with a combined 46 points on 31 goals and 11 assists. The Hardshell duo has also added 24 GB and six CT from attack. Rambo has been nominated for Attackman of the Year.
In the midfield, the Whipsnakes rotation consists of several Terps. Mike Chanenchuk is tied for second on the team with 22 points, Bryan Cole has 13 points on the year, Keegan Khan leads the team's rookies with nine points, and Jake Bernhardt has a goal and four GB.
As one of the best long-stick middies nationwide, Michael Ehrhardt has scooped 33 GB, forced ten turnovers, and notched eight points this season. Ehrhardt has already been nominated for Long-Stick Midfielder of the Year as well as the Brendan Looney Leadership Award.
Defensively, the Whips are led by a trio of Terps: Tim Muller, Matthew Dunn, and Bryce Young. The trio combined for 16 CT and 41 GB this season as the Whips were the only team in the league to allow less than 100 goals this season. Dunn has been named a finalist for Defenseman of the Year.
Kyle Bernlohr has continued to showcase his capabilities in the net and cemented his position as one of the best in the nation. Boasting a 58 percent save rate with 125 total saves, Bernlohr won the 2022 Goalie Challenge at All-Star Weekend. He's been announced as a finalist for both Most Valuable Player and Goalie of the Year.
The Whipsnakes have not lost in over a month since a Week 5 loss to the Waterdogs on July 2.
