College Park, MD --Â Each week during the 2022-23 season a Maryland student-athlete, who has shown excellence on and off the playing field, will be selected as the Solomon Eye Physicians & Surgeons Terp of the Week.
Â
This week's Solomon Eye Physicians & Surgeons Terp of the Week is senior guard
Jahmir Young of Maryland basketball.
Â
In a split week, the guard led the Terps with 21.5 points and 7.5 rebounds in a road loss at Rutgers and a home win over No. 24 Ohio State. Young was sensational in the win over Ohio State with 30 points and 11 rebounds to become the first Maryland guard since Greivis Vasquez in 2009 to have a 30-point/10-rebound game. The 30 points tied his career high, while the 11 rebounds was one shy of his career-best mark, both were season highs. That followed a 13 point, 4 rebound, 3 assist effort on the road at Rutgers with the Scarlet Knights coming off a win at No. 1 Purdue the game before. The win over Ohio State snapped a two-game losing skid, was Maryland's second win over a ranked team, and improved the Terps to 8-1 at home.
The Terps will travel to Iowa for weekend matchup on Sunday, Jan. 15 at 4:30 p.m.. The game will air on BTN and the Maryland Sports Radio Network.
