COLLEGE PARK, MD – Maryland wrestling's 2024 Big Ten Schedule has been released, as announced by the conference today. The opponents and home/away designations were previously released by the conference, with the dates being revealed today.
The second-half of the B1G schedule features one dual a weekend for the remaining four weeks of the regular season. The Terps will host Penn State on Sunday, Jan. 28 and then travel to Minnesota for a Friday, Feb. 2 dual.
Maryland's final home conference dual will be on Friday, Feb. 11 against Michigan State. The Terps will wrap up the B1G schedule on the road at Rutgers on Friday, Feb. 16.
Prior to Big Ten season kicking off, the Terps will compete in duals at American (11/2) and at Morgan State (12/10). The team's home opener is slated for Monday, Nov. 20 against Pittsburgh. The Terps have faced their former ACC-foe each of the past three seasons, highlighted by a thrilling 18-16 win over the Tigers last year for the program's first ranked victory since 2013. This will be the first time the Tigers have visited the XFINITY Center since 2019.
Maryland will also participate in the Tiger Style Invite (11/11), Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational (12/1-12/2) and the Franklin and Marshall Lehman Open in Lancaster, PA (1/5).
Once Big Ten action concludes, Maryland will host Drexel on Saturday, Feb. 23 and then compete at the Franklin & Marshall Last Chance Invite the following day (Feb. 24) to round out the regular season.
The Terps will then head into postseason competition, beginning with the first time Maryland has ever hosted the Big Ten Championships. From March 9-10, the premier conference in collegiate wrestling will compete in XFINITY Center for the opportunity to stand on the podium at the end.
Finally, Maryland's national qualifiers will then head to Kansas City, MO, the Miller brothers' hometown, for the 2024 NCAA Championships from March 21-23.
Fifth-year head coach Alex Clemsen and Maryland are coming off a 10-win dual season, the highest win mark since the 2012-13. The Terps also had five NCAA qualifiers last season (Braxton Brown, Ethen Miller, Kal Miller, Jaron Smith and Jaxon Smith), marking the most qualifiers since 2014. All except for Jaron Smith are back for the 2023-24 season in addition to 2022 NCAA Qualifier Dominic Solis. The Terps also made a big splash in the portal by bringing in former top recruit and Penn State heavyweight Seth Nevills.
