
Four Individual Victories as Terps Open Indoor Season

ANNAPOLIS, MD - The Maryland track and field team wrapped up their first meet of the indoor season at the Navy Invitational, where four Terps won their events.
The first victorious Terp was Chioma Njoku, who won the women's weight throw. Njoku, a transfer from Delaware, won the event with a huge throw of 19.65m, which also put her at 6th all-time in Maryland track and field history.
Armanie Coleman and Victoria Teasley went 1-2 in the women's 60m dash in their Maryland debuts, running blistering times of 7.58 and 7.62. Coleman's time places her in the Maryland record books in her first meet in a Maryland uniform, putting her in 8th place all-time in the event. Coleman also came in 2nd place in the women's 200m.
Freshman Aaron Abedin from Ellicott City, MD won in his first collegiate event in the men's 400m, running a rapid time of 49.29. The final victorious Terp was Kami Joi Hickson, who won the women's 1000m with a personal best of 2:56.13.

Next Up: The Terps will return to the track in just over a month for the Nittany Lion Challenge on January 13th.

- Andrew Harmon set a new personal best in the first event of the day, the men's weight throw, with a toss of 17.38m, which was good for third place.
- Lydia Robling ran a new personal best in the women's 500m, finishing in second with a time of 1:16.16, and Krya Lyles finished fourth in the event.
- Emmi Simon raced to a second-place finish in the mile, crossing the line in 5:06.54.
- Emma Pegg finished third in the women's 1000m, running a new personal best of 2:56.92.
- Kevin Collins ran a personal best of 6.94 in the men's 60m dash and came in second place in the event.
- Katerina Talanova placed third in the women's 800m with a time of 2:19.89. Freshman Lucy Scothern made her debut in the event, finishing fifth.
- Maya Mosley finished in third place in the women's 400m, crossing the finish line in 57.60.
- Anthony Petrillo finished in second in the men's mile with a time of 4:16.31.
- Rhys Allen finished third in the men's shot put with a throw of 15.49m.
- Peter Capozzoli ran a personal best in the men's 400m.
- Max Worley made his Maryland debut, placing fourth in the men's mile.
