CHICAGO, IL – Sixth-seeded Maryland led for much of the game, but third-seeded and 19th-ranked Indiana outlasted the Terps,
70-60 in the Big Ten Tournament Quarterfinals on Friday night at the United Center.
The Terps (21-12 overall) will await their NCAA Tournament seeding, match-up and destination, which will be revealed on Sunday at 6 p.m., on CBS.
Indiana used a 15-0 run in the second half to rally from a deficit and take control of the game. The Terps rallied back to within six points several times in the final minutes of the game.
A balanced Terps' offense was led by Hakim Hart, who scored 16 points.
Jahmir Young (12 points),
Don Carey (11 points) and
Donta Scott (10 points) also scored in double-figures.
Indiana (22-10) was led by Trayce Jackson-Davis (23 points, seven rebounds and seven assists) and Jalen Hood-Schifino (19 points and six rebounds).

Breaking Down The Action
- Indiana hit its first five shots from the floor to take an 11-5 lead at the 15:48 mark of the first half.
- The Terps used a 7-2 run behind four points from Reese and a triple by Hart to cut the early deficit to 13-12 with 14:19 to go.
- An 11-0 run powered by forcing three turnovers on the defensive end and holding Indiana scoreless for over four minutes gave the Terps a 24-17 lead at the 8:19 mark of the first half. The run saw three pointers by Carey and Young and was punctuated by a Patrick Emilien dunk.
- After Indiana cut the lead to four, the Terps used two more triples to extend back to 30-22. The Hoosiers then scored on back-to-back possessions forcing a Maryland timeout with 3:55 remaining in the opening stanza. The Terps led 34-32 at halftime.
- Indiana chipped away at the Terps' lead and took their first lead since early in the first half at 44-43 on a free throw by Jalen Hood-Schifino with 12:23 left in the game. A 15-0 run put the Hooisers ahead 54-43 including seven consecutive points by Jackson-Davis with 9:27 left in the half.
- Young scored four points in a row to get the Terps within six at 61-55 with 3:27 left in the second. Hood-Schifino's three-pointer as the shot clock was expiring was the final dagger with 2:06 left.
Double-Figure Update
- Hakim Hart (16) reached double-digits for the 20th time this season and the 44th time in his career.
- Jahmir Young (12) recorded double figures points for the 29th time this season and the 18th time in the last 19 games. This marked the 104th time in his career that he has tallied double figures.
- Don Carey (11) hit double figures for the 15th time this season and the 80th time in his career. He's hit double figures in each of the last six games.
- Donta Scott (10) posted double-figure scoring for the 19th time this season and the 64th time of his career.
Fear the Jahmir
- With 12 points, Young now has 1,952 points, 612 rebounds and 363 assists in 118 career games. He is one of 10 active players nationally to have 1,900 career points, 600 rebounds and 350 assists.
- With 531 points this season, Young is now tied for 36th alongside Anthony Cowan, Jr., on the single-season scoring chart for the Terps. Next at No. 35 is Lonny Baxter, who had 533 in 2001-02.
Donta In The Record Books
- Scott moved to No. 29 on the all-time scoring list surpassing the 1,300 point mark. He now has 1,306 which moved him past Jay McMillen, who had 1,300 from 1964-67. Next is Evers Burns at No. 28 with 1,315 points from 1989-93.
- Scott moved into a tie at No. 15 all-time in career rebounds with 689. He is tied with Will Hetzel (1967-70).
