COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Luke Wierman was named Big Ten Specialist of the Week for the first time this season, the league announced on Tuesday.
Wierman won 19 of 26 face-offs in No. 5 Maryland's 12-11 overtime, come-from-behind, win against No. 19 Ohio State on Friday night, winning every single face-off in the third quarter and all but one in the entire second half/overtime period. As part of his big day, Wierman moved to second in program history in career face-off wins with 549 in his career. He also tallied a team-high 11 groundballs.
This is the first Big Ten weekly award for Wierman this season and the fourth of his career. Wierman joins goalie

Maryland is back in action on Sunday when it travels to Piscataway, New Jersey to battle the Scarlet Knights at 7 pm on BTN.
