Five Hardshells Win Gold With Team USA, Terps Finish 2023 World Lacrosse Men’s Championship

COLLEGE PARK, Md -- The 2023 World Lacrosse Men's Championship came to a close on Saturday, July 1 as the United States, prominently featuring five former Terps, topped Canada 10-7 in the Gold Medal to win its second consecutive World Championship.
The five Terps on Team USA made huge impacts throughout the entire tournament as the US finished with a spotless 7-0 record and an 8.29 average margin of victory.
The offensive Terps were just as impactful. Matt Rambo, who started all seven games, finished fifth on the team in both points (14) and goals (9). Connor Kelly totaled seven goals and nine points across six games. He earned Team USA "Guy of the Day" Award after his four-goal, one assist performance in a defeat of Israel in the team's first playoff game.
Beyond the five on Team USA, other hardshells made their mark while playing for other countries.
2022 National Champion Drew Morris helped lead Israel to a seventh-place finish as their starting goalie. Morris started all seven games, playing over 335 minutes in cage and making 50 saves to just 40 goals allowed. He also made 11 saves in 45 minutes against Team USA.
Finally, 2018 USILA Honorable Mention All American Goalie Dan Morris started all seven games in cage for the Philippines, totaling 47 saves on 37 goals allowed in over 400 minutes of action.

Defense was Team USA's calling all tournament and that unit was anchored by team captain Jesse Bernhardt, team captain Michael Ehrhardt and Matt Dunn. Bernhardt, now a two-time gold medalist, led the United States with 10 caused turnovers, highlighted by his four-CT, three-GB performance in the US' 12-3 win over Australia in pool play. Ehrhardt, the 2018 World Championship MVP, finished the Championships with a pair of goals, four caused turnovers and three groundballs.GOLD MEDAL TERPS!!
