COLLEGE PARK, MD – Maryland wrestling officially released its 2024-25 non-conference schedule today, October 2. The non-conference slate includes two home dates, 11 total matches, and two open tournaments.
"We're excited about our non-conference schedule this year," head coach Alex Clemsen said. "We wrestle four times in the DMV, we get to compete as a team in some great duals, and we give our kids a chance to face some of the best out of conference competition possible. Looking forward to seeing our program continue to step forward and step up."
The Terps wil kick off the 2024-25 campaign with a home tri-meet against Kent State & Bucknell on Sunday, Nov 3. Then, the Terps will go to Kansas City, the hometown of Kal and Ethen Miller, for their third consecutive year competing in the Tiger Style Invite on Saturday, Nov. 9. Kal Miller has taken home the 141-pound title in Kansas City each of the past two years.
Maryland will then have two dual meets against local foes on the schedule. First, against American at Bullis High School on Saturday, Nov. 16 and then a home dual versus Morgan State on Friday, Nov. 22. The Terps defeated both teams by a combined 75-13 margin last season.
The Terps will compete on two dates in December. First, on Sunday, Dec. 8 at the George Mason Open where Braxton Brown took home first place in the 133-pound bracket last season. Maryland's final date of competition in 2024 will come in an ultra-competitive quad-meet at Rider University on Friday, Dec. 20 where the Terps will battle Rider, Pittsburgh and South Dakota State in one day.
Sunday, Jan. 5 will mark the program's first action in 2025 as the Terps will compete in the Armbar at the Armory event in Albany, NY against Columbia, Binghamton and Lock Haven.
Maryland will then begin Big Ten competition (dates to be announced later). The Terps will wrap up the regular season at Drexel on Friday, Feb. 21. Maryland topped Drexel 27-15 on senior night last season.
The Terps are coming off their first ever multi-win Big Ten season and their second straight season with five NCAA qualifiers. All five qualifiers (Braxton Brown, Kal Miller, Ethen Miller, Jaxon Smith and Seth Nevills) are back for the 2024-25 campaign. Maryland also finished with its most points, best finish and most individual placers at the 2024 Big Ten Championships, which took place in College Park.
