COLLEGE PARK, MD --  Maryland volleyball is set to travel to face two ranked conference opponents, Wisconsin and Minnesota. The Terps open the weekend against No. 9 Wisconsin on Friday, October 11 at 8 p.m. ET. In a quick turnaround, Maryland will travel to No. 14 Minnesota for a Saturday showdown at 6 p.m. ET.

Friday's match will be broadcast on B1G+, followed by Saturday's contest on Big Ten Network.

  • Maryland sits 10-5 overall and 1-3 in the conference after splitting last weekend with a loss at No. 3 Penn State, followed by a victory over Rutgers in College Park.
  • The Terps have been dominant from the service line throughout the season. Maryland averages 2.19 service aces per set, leading the Big Ten. It is the only team in the conference to average over two aces per set. In addition to conference standings, the Terps rank sixth in the nation in serving. Samantha Schnitta leads Maryland with .91 aces per set, leading the NCAA.
  • In recent seasons, Maryland has remained consistent in conference play. The program finished with a conference record of 7-13 in the last three seasons. After dropping the first two conference matches, Adam Hughes and the Terps look to build off their first conference win from last weekend.

  • Sydney Bryant has been a standout to start conference play. The sophomore has hit double-digit kills in her last three outings, including setting a career-best 24 kills against Iowa. She owns the second-best conference average with 3.29 kills per set. Schnitta leads the team averaging 3.53 in conference play.
  • Sydney Dowler has increased her presence on the court during Big Ten play. She leads the Terps in assists with 122 through four matches. On the season, Dowler has tallied an average of 5.66 assists per set. 
  • Fifth year libero, Lilly Gunter ranks ninth in the Big Ten averaging 3.82 digs per set in Big Ten play. She has recorded double-digit digs in seven-straight matches. Defensive specialist Ally Williams, averages 1.61 digs per set and combined for 27 digs in the first four conference matches. Additionally, the junior has added 12 service aces on the year, including five against Big Ten opponents. 
  • Eva Rohrbach leads the Terps in blocks with 61. The sophomore averages five blocks per match against conference opponents.

  • Friday's match will be the fourteenth meeting all-time between Wisconsin and Maryland. The Badgers own a 12-1 program record over the Terps with the last meeting going to Wisconsin, 3-0.
  • Maryland took down then-No. 2 Wisconsin in 2021 in five sets in College Park.
  • Minnesota owns an 18-1 all-time record over Maryland.
  • The Terps earned their first-ever program win over then-No. 16  Minnesota last season in a thrilling come from behind victory in The Pavilion.

  • No. 9 Wisconsin sits 9-4 overall and started conference play 3-1, with wins over Northwestern, Rutgers and then-No. 25 Washington.
  • The Badgers have a well-balanced roster averaging a .296 hitting percentage on the season, the third best rate in the Big Ten. On the defensive side, Wisconsin ranks third in conference in digs per set at 14.67.
  • Sarah Franklin leads the Badger offense, averaging 4.45 kills per set. Charlie Fuerbringer owns the majority of the assists for the 2024 campaign with 466. Devyn Robinson and Lola Schumacher lead Wisconsin on the defense. Robinson has tallied 51 blocks on the year and Schumacher has 168 digs. 
  • Minnesota owns a 9-5 overall record, as well as a 2-2 conference record. It picked up wins against then-No. 7 Wisconsin and UCLA. 
  • The Golden Gophers lead the conference in digs per set, averaging 15.72. They rank similarly to Maryland in kills per set (12.39) and match the Terps in blocks per set (2.40).
  • A few notable names for Minnesota include outside hitter Julia Hanson and setter Melani Shaffmaster for their offensive production and libero Zeynep Palabiyik and middle blocker Phoebe Awoleye on defense. Palabiyik ranks fourth in the conference in digs with 230.
  • The Golden Gophers will face Indiana before Saturday's match.
