ANN ARBOR, MI – Maryland volleyball was defeated by Michigan in consecutive sets (25-21, 25-17, 25-21) at Cliff Keen Arena on Thursday. The Terps are now 13-15 overall and 4-13 in Big Ten play.

Despite boasting leads in all three of the sets, Maryland was unable to come away with a set victory in a match of runs. Michigan improved to 17-11 on the season and 7-10 in conference action.

Sam Csire moved up to third all-time in program history in kills. She recorded nine on the day to increase her total to 1431. The graduate outside hitter passed Adreené Elliott (1,424 from 2011-15) in the match.

Samantha Schnitta tallied six kills, six digs, four blocks and two service aces. She now has 79 aces to lead all NCAA Division I. The total is also a program record.

Katie Scherer added five kills and six digs. Anastasia Russ rounded out performers with a game-high seven blocks.

Set 1:Michigan 25 Maryland 21

Back-to-back kills by Samantha Schnitta and Anastasia Russ gave them an early 3-2 lead.
Michigan pulled ahead with an 8-4 lead after going on a 6-1 run.

Set 3: Michigan 25 Maryland 21

Michigan opened set three leading 6-1.
The Terps bridged the gap with three consecutive points to trail 8-6.
A 7-1 run gave Maryland a 10-9 advantage. Schnitta had two kills in the run.
Michigan's 5-1 run gave it the lead back at 15-13.
The Wolverines closed out the set scoring the seven of the final 10 points.
