
Terps Post Best Score, Finish In Big Ten Championships With 196.775 Score

EAST LANSING, MI – Maryland gymnastics posted its best finish and best score in Big Ten Championships history on Saturday at Jenison Field House. With a score of 196.775, Maryland recorded a high in its Big Ten history, bettering the mark of 196.450 in the 2022 Big Ten Championships. Maryland was in first place after the day session before finishing in fifth place overall, which was also the Terps' best finish ever -- bettered the sixth-place finish in 2022. During the day session, Maryland competed against Illinois, Nebraska, Penn State, Iowa and Rutgers. Michigan State won the title with a 197.600.

Maryland's final rotation on the uneven bars cemented it as the winner of session one. Alexa Rothenbuescher and Rhea LeBlanc rounded out the lineup and each scored 9.900. Maryland's team score of 49.300 tied Nebraska for the highest of the afternoon. The Terps began their first rotation on the balance beam and got off to an exceptional start. They scored 49.025 as a team, led by Madeline Komoroski's 9.875 score. Her score was tied for first amongst all competitors. On floor exercise, the Terps turned in another impressive performance. Rothenbuescher scored a 9.900 with her dazzling routine. It was her 10th time this season reaching that mark or higher. The trend continued on vault and kept the Terrapins in the running for the highest session score. Taylor Rech and Martin led the Terps as each scored 9.850.Bringing the 🐢's power to floor.
