No. 1 Terps Fall In Defensive Showdown Against Penn, 13-9

Box Score COLLEGE PARK, MD – No. 1 Maryland women's lacrosse was defeated by No. 14 Penn, 13-9, at Field Hockey and Lacrosse Complex on Wednesday. Hannah Leubecker led the Terps with four goals. It was her sixth of the season and fourth straight game with a hat trick.
Maryland (9-2) faced a four-goal deficit midway through the third quarter but was unable to re-establish a lead despite repeatedly bridging the gap. Penn (8-1) created more opportunities by outshooting the Terps 25-14

Penn held the No. 2 scoring defense (6.75) among NCAA Division I schools. The Terps still had success on offense, as Kori Edmondson (two goals) joined Leubecker as a multi-goal scorer. Libby May, Maggie Weisman and Hailey Russo each scored a goal as well.

The Terps boasted the No. 4 scoring defense (7.30) but were unable to contain Anna Brandt, who finished with four goals. Emily Sterling made 13 saves between the pipes.

Eloise Clevenger notched four assists for her fourth straight game with three or more assists.
