Courtney Wyche made her third appearance in the series, pitching her second complete game, striking out 17 batters and allowing just one run and six hits.
Wyche struck out a total of 38 batters and allowed 11 hits and three runs through 22.1 innings pitched in the series. Her impressive showing included a 19-strikeout performance in game one on Friday, setting the 2024 NCAA single-game season-high mark.Doing what she does best🐢

Mady Volpe surrendered just one hit through six innings pitched for the Nittany Lions. Bridget Nemeth entered the game and pitched the remaining six innings. She advanced to 15-1 on the season and struck out eight batters.

- Courtney Wyche escaped a jam stranding two Penn State runners in scoring position in the bottom of the third.
- Both teams struggled to generate any hits or runs, as the game remained scoreless through five innings.
- Jadea McFarland robbed Penn State of a leadoff base hit in the bottom of the fifth, reaching out for a diving grab.
- Maryland left a runner in scoring position with an opportunity to take the first lead of the game in the top of the sixth inning.
- Penn State had an opportunity to walk off the game, but Wyche continued her strong play striking out a trio of batters in the seventh frame.
- Maryland almost took the lead, when Delaney Reefe belted a double to center field that just missed over top of the wall in the bottom in the eleventh inning. Ultimately, the Terps were unable to bring the go-ahead run home.
- The Nittany Lions walked it off with an RBI double in the bottom of the 12th to win 1-0.
