Where we are
- Maryland is coming off its second Top 10 win of the season against No. 10 Denver on Saturday. The Terps had a balanced offensive attack with six players adding at least two points, led by Victoria Hensh with four, from three goals and one assist.Â
- Emily Sterling and Meghan Ball anchored the defense holding the Pioneers to eight goals. Sterling tallied ten saves and three ground balls, while Ball earned five draw controls, five ground balls and caused one turnover.Â
- The 2024 schedule consists of ten non-conference and six conference matchups. The Terps continued to schedule strong competition with nine opponents ranked in the IWLCA Preseason Top 25.
- The Terps are coming off a season where they earned their 33rd consecutive NCAA Tournament bid. Maryland finished the 2023 season 15-7 overall and with a 4-2 conference record.Â
- Maryland announced six of its games will be broadcast nationally. Five games will air on Big Ten Network, including three home contests and one will show on ESPNU.

Championship facility
- The Field Hockey and Lacrosse Complex completed renovations this fall, achieving a comprehensive enhancement of the facility transforming the existing 5,500 square foot facility into a 17,193 square foot team house.
- The facility features larger, separated locker rooms for Field Hockey and Women's Lacrosse student-athletes with spacious team rooms with all-new technologies, an increased Sports Medicine room with new rehabilitative and recovery equipment, inclusive of hydrotherapy space, a signature lobby to recognize and celebrate the championships and success of both programs, a relocated fan entrance for ease of access to the complex seating areas and a second floor addition with coaching offices and meeting spaces.
2024 standouts
- Eloise Clevenger leads the team in assists (20) and points (27). She averages 4.00 assists per game, leading the Big Ten, and 5.40 points per game ranking second in the conference. Her assists per game average ranks second in the nation.Â
- Victoria Hensh has had break out performances in the last few games. She is on a three-game scoring streak, including her season high three goals against No. 10 Denver.Â
- Hannah Leubecker and Kori Edmondson have scored in every game so far this season and lead the Terps in total goals with nine apiece. Each scorer has posted a hat trick and two two-goal games so far this season.
- Shaylan Ahearn was a difference maker in the draw circle against Denver. She led the team with seven draw controls and helped Maryland earn a 16-6 win ratio over the Pioneers.
- Emily Sterling has remained a consistent presence in the cage for the Terps, posting the third-best save percentage in the country of .571 after five games. She ranks second in the Big Ten with a 9.60 saves per game average.
- Clevenger, Leubecker and Sterling, along with defender Meghan Ball were all named to the Tewaaraton Watch List earlier this season.Â
New Additions
- Reese and the Terps added two of the top transfers out of the portal for the 2024 season in 2023 Big Ten Defender of the Year Meghan Ball and Colorado stand-out Sophie Halus. Ball, a graduate transfer from Rutgers, was the first non-Maryland player to earn Defender of the Year. In addition, she is a three-time IWLCA All-American, three-time First Team All-Big Ten selection and she graduated as Rutgers' all-time leader in career caused turnovers (154) and draw controls (308).
- Halus, a junior, started all 36 contests in her first two seasons with the Buffaloes. She tallied 40 ground balls, 32 caused turnovers, one goal and three assists.
- Maryland also welcomes an impressive freshmen class, highlighted by top-10 ranked signee Maisy Clevenger. The class also features ranked signees JJ Suriano and Lexi Dupcak, alongside watchlist talent Lauren LaPointe.
Dominance Under Reese
- Head Coach Cathy Reese enters her 18th season at the helm of Maryland women's lacrosse. The winningest coach in program history, Reese is 321-42 as head coach and has led the Terps to five National Championships, 12 Final Fours and 22 Conference Championships.
- Maryland is 168-7 at home under Reese, with eight undefeated home campaigns in the last 11 seasons (2013, '14, '15, '16, '17, '18, '19, '21).
History vs. William & Mary
- The Terps hold a 29-6 advantage all-time and have won 22 in a row stretching back to 1989.
- Last year, the Terps won, 22-4, in College Park. Four Terps tallied four points, including current players Eloise Clevenger, Hannah Leubecker and Kori Edmondson.
- William & Mary head coach Colleen Dawson played at Maryland from 2008-11, helping the Terps to three consecutive ACC Championships and the 2010 NCAA Championship. The scholar-athlete also excelled in the classroom, where she earned ACC Student-Athlete Honor Roll recognition and was a member of the Leadership Group.
