TOWSON, MD – Maryland women's soccer team tied Towson 1-1 in an in-state matchup at Tiger Field on Sept. 5. The Terps and the Tigers both sit a 2-2-3 on the season.
Freshman defender Taryn Raibon scored her team-high tying second goal of the season in the 21st minute. She received a feed from sophomore defender Kennedy Bell for the game's first score.
Raibon has now scored in back-to-back games and is the first Terp to do so since last season, when then-sophomore Ava Morales scored in three straight contests against Towson (9/3), George Mason (9/7) and Binghamton (9/10).
However, the Tigers tied the game up in the 47th minute with a goal. Maryland outshot Towson 11-8 and held a 4-1 advantage on corner kicks.
Senior goalkeeper Liz Beardsley tallied two saves. She leads the Big Ten Conference with 24 saves through seven games this season.
Towson tied Florida 1-1 on Sept. 1 in their last game.
Nezmer's Take
"Once again, I thought we did a good job of keeping possession and in-between the boxes," head coach Meghan Ryan Nezmer said. 'I was really happy with the team's performance, we have to be a little more discipline in the final third. I thought we were off-sides a tad too much, but I thought we put on a great showing."
Raibon On Scoring For The Second-Straight Game
"Tonight, I came out and got a good cross from Kennedy, and then I banged it in the net and I got a goal."
