- Maryland heads to the Carolina Classic following a 4-6 start to the season. The Terps made a statement at the Kajikawa Classic, upsetting No. 21 California 6-3 at Alberta B. Farrington Softball Stadium. The victory marked Maryland's first win of the season and the program's 39th all-time win over a ranked opponent. It was also head coach Lauren Karn's third ranked win at Maryland, following shutout victories over No. 25 Oregon and No. 22 Penn State last season.
- North Carolina will host the 2025 Carolina Classic after starting the season 9-2 and a 6-0 undefeated record at home. North Carolina is led by Kat Rodriguez who leads the team in average (.444), hits (16), RBI (17), doubles (7), and total bases (23). Rodriguez was named ACC Player of the Week this past week after having a 12 RBI weekend.
- Queens will enter the tournament at 2-2 with wins over LeMoyne College and the College of Charleston. At the plate, Queens is led by five different batters who are hitting above .300. In the circle, Abby Craver leads the team with a 0.78 ERA and six strikeouts this season.
- In their inaugural season West Georgia will travel to Chapel Hill after a 3-2 start to their season. Blaire Bizette leads the team with a .571 batting average and six RBIs. In the circle, Callie Hardison.
Caitlyn Cornwell is second on the team in batting average (.333) and leads the team in stolen bases.

2024 All-Big Ten Second Team selections Mazie MacFarlane and Sydney Lewis have carried their momentum into the new season.
- MacFarlane leads the team in batting average (.333), hits (11), and doubles (5). She delivered a standout performance against UMass, going 4-for-4 with a career-high four hits, including a double and two runs scored.
- Lewis leads the Terps with three home runs, just one shy of her total from last season. Against UMass, she drove in two of Maryland's four runs with RBI singles, finishing 3-for-4 for her first multi-hit game of the season.
MacFarlane has recorded three multi-hit games and five doubles this season.
Freshman corner
- Freshman pitcher Aubrey Wurst earned her second career start in the circle and pitched her first career complete-game shutout as Maryland softball defeated UMass, 4-0, in the Bevo Classic.
- Wurst had the best game of her young career yet, striking out a season-best nine batters and allowing just two hits. She regularly got the Terps out of jams, including one with bases loaded in the very first inning. The freshman was awarded her second win of the season.
- The last Terrapin freshman to pitch a complete-game shutout was Trinity Schlotterbeck on March 7, 2020, as the Terps defeated Tulsa 5-0.
Aubrey Wurst recorded a career-high nine strikeouts against UMass.
