Terps Place First At Maryland Quad Meet With 196.175 Score

COLLEGE PARK, MD – Maryland gymnastics placed first at its Maryland Quad Meet with a 196.175 score on Senior Day, Sunday. It scored over the 196 mark for the third time this season. The Terps competed against Towson, George Washington and Yale. It was its second time in two days competing against Towson and George Washington.   

Maryland was exceptional on the uneven bars during its second rotation. Its top five scorers all scored above 9.800. Hailey Merchant scored 9.925, and Sierra Kondo added a 9.900. Merchant's score set a new career high and ranked as the second-best score amongst all competitors. Maryland's team score of 49.325 was the highest of all competing schools. 

The Terrapins finished the meet on the floor, scoring 48.875 as a team and ranking second among competing schools. Rhea LeBlanc led the Terps with a 9.850, and Gianna Ruffing added a 9.775 to set a new career-best in the event.  

Maryland's third rotation on the beam was led by Madeline Komoroski, who scored 9.000 and tied for the first highest score. The Terps' beam lineup was steady, as all four competitors scored above a 9.800. Their 49.075 score as a team was the highest amongst all schools. 

The Terps began the meet on vault. Sophomore Natalie Martin led the team with a 9.850, tied for the second-best score among competitors. The team scored 48.900.
