COLLEGE PARK, MD – The University of Maryland men's lacrosse team (11-3) has earned the No. 2 overall seed in the 2025 NCAA Tournament and will host the winner of the play-in game between Robert Morris and Air Force on Sunday, May 11 at 2:30 PM at SECU Stadium.
The game will be televised nationally on ESPNU.
This marks Maryland's fourth time in program history earning the No. 2 seed. The Terps are 4-3 all-time as the second seed: 2-1 in 1979 (National Finalists), 0-1 in 1996 (Quarterfinals), and 2-1 in 2006 (Semifinalists).
Robert Morris enters the play-in game with an 11-5 overall record after winning the NEC Championship with a 17-8 victory over Detroit Mercy. The Terps have faced the Colonials three times in program history, including a 14-11 win in the first round of the 2018 NCAA Tournament. Maryland has won all three meetings.
Air Force (8-7) earned its NCAA bid by winning the ASUN Championship with an 11-10 victory over Utah. The Terps are 6-0 all-time against the Falcons, including a 15-4 win in their last meeting in 2009. The two programs also met in the 1971 NCAA Tournament, where Maryland earned a 10-1 win in College Park.
This appearance marks Maryland's 47th all-time NCAA Tournament berth and a nation-leading 22nd consecutive selection.
Head Coach John Tillman has now guided the Terps to 14 straight NCAA Tournaments, the longest streak in program history, surpassing Bud Beardmore's previous mark of nine (1971–79). Under Tillman, Maryland has reached 10 NCAA semifinals in 12 full seasons, including eight national title games and two championships.
The winner of Maryland's first-round game will advance to the NCAA Quarterfinals at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis on Sunday, May 18, to face the winner of Duke vs. Georgetown.
