COLLEGE PARK, MD -- The University of Maryland volleyball team opens Big Ten play with two road matches against Iowa and Nebraska. The Terps will face Iowa on Thursday, September 25, before traveling to take on Nebraska on Saturday, September 27.

First serve for Thursday's game is slated for 7 p.m. ET, while Saturday's showdown will begin at 4 p.m. ET. Both matches will air on B1G+.

  • Maryland sits at 7-3 overall after extending its win streak to two matches.
  • The Terps are coming off an undefeated week against Coppin State and Seton Hall. Maryland swept the Pirates in three straight sets and battled through five sets to take down Coppin State.

  • Against Davidson, she recorded a career-high 20 kills in a win, then followed it up with another career-best 21 kills against Wake Forest a few days later. Defensively, she added 16 digs and eight blocks.
  • Malual becomes the first Terp since Erika Pritchard (2019) to record 20+ kills in a match while hitting over .400.
  • She has quickly made her presence known in the Big Ten, currently ranking fifth in the conference with 143 kills this season.

Ajack Malual became the first Terp since 2019 to record a game with 20+ kills and hit over .400.

  • Ajack Malual leads the Terps in kills per set with 3.58 after ten matches. The senior transfer tallied a career-high 21 kills against Wake Forest earlier this season.
  • Lilly Wagner continues to lead the Terps in assists in her first season, averaging 8.45 per set. The redshirt freshman has recorded six double-doubles this season.
  • On the defensive side, Ally Williams is averaging 3.63 digs per set. She posted a career-high 22 digs against Coastal Carolina to open the season.
  • Duru Gökçen anchors the defense for the Terps with 1.43 blocks per set. The sophomore is second in the conference in blocks this season with 57.

  • Iowa enters Big Ten play with a 9-3 record, coming off back-to-back wins over East Texas A&M and Lindenwood.
  • Offensively, the Hawkeyes are led by Chard'e Vanzandt, who has 112 kills this season and averages 2.80 per set.
  • Hannah Whittingstall anchors the defense with a team-best 55 blocks.
