COLLEGE PARK, MD – For the third consecutive year, No. 4 Maryland is set to face off against No. 8 Boston College and No. 5 Duke in the B1G/ACC Challenge. The Terps play No. 8 Boston College on Friday, September 5 at 3 p.m. followed by a top 5 match-up with No. 5 Duke on Sunday at 3 p.m.

#5 Duke is coming off a 2-1 win on the road for their first win of the season. The Blue Devils registered four shots on goal and seven shots total against American. Preseason All-ACC Alaina McVeigh scored her first goal of the season. McVeigh was fifth in the ACC for goals per game last season.
#8 Boston College enjoyed a 2-0 weekend in Orono, Maine over Maine 2-0 and Indiana 2-1. The Eagles have had four different goal scorers making them a threat on offense. Kelly Doton is entering her 10^th season as head coach. The Eagles finished last season in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, dropping the game 1-0 against Princeton.
Last season, Maryland fell to Duke 1-0 in Chapel Hill in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
Maryland is 15-3 all time against Boston College. On the road, the Terps have a perfect 6-0 record against the Eagles.

The Terrapins first tournament of the season was the annual Conference Cup in College Park where they went 2-0. Maryland beat Stanford 3-1 in game one and shutout Villanova 4-0 in game two.
Multiple players got their first career starts in a Maryland jersey. Jordyn Hollamon, Ella Fehr, Maia Adamson, Callie Rogers, and Feliz Kuhne all earned starting spots this past weekend.
Jordyn Hollamon had a standout performance this weekend. She recorded her first career assist against Stanford and her first two career goals against Villanova. She had five points on the weekend.

Maci Bradford recorded a career-high of three assists in game two against Villanova. She recorded five points this weekend, including one goal off a penalty corner.

The Terrapins return multiple key players at all positions
All-Big Ten Second Team member Ella Gaitan was the Terps' second leading scorer at the end of the 2024 campaign with 21 points from nine goals and three assists.
Gaitan scored the Terps first goal of the 2025 season against Stanford within the first two minutes of the game
Josie Hollamon returns for her junior season in College Park. The 2024 Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year had 16 points last season with five goals and six assists. She was named co-captain for the 2025 season alongside senior Ericka Morris-Adams.
Hollamon scored a goal in both games this past weekend to help Maryland start the season 2-0.
Senior Fleur Knopert returns for her final season at Maryland. She ended the 2024 season with 12 points from five goals and two assists.
Maci Bradford and Alyssa Klebasko return to College Park after playing in the Junior Pan American Cup. Klebasko represented the United States as the flag bearer.
Bradford recorded her first goal of the season against Stanford then recorded a career-high three assists against Villanova.

Freshman Jordyn Hollamon was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week, her first conference honors as announced by the conference on Tuesday.
Hollamon played in both games in the Conference Cup, making one start. In game one, she recorded her first career assist within the first two minutes of the game.
In game two, Jordyn recorded her first two career goals and help the Terps secure a 4-0 shutout win against the Villanova Wildcats.

Head coach Missy Meharg is in her fourth decade at the helm of the Maryland field hockey program in 2025, along the way building a program rich with a winning tradition. Voted National Coach of the Year an unprecedented nine times, Meharg has exemplified the tradition of excellence Maryland field hockey has become known for, a program with eight National Championships and 27 conference championships - solidifying the Terrapins' position among the top programs in the nation.
She is supported by associate head coach Kasey Tapman Asper, and assistant coaches Will Holt and Maddy Sposito.
