No. 4 Maryland Falls to No. 8 Boston College 2-0.

The Terps were defeated for the first time in 2025 to open the B1G/ACC Challange

DURHAM, NC - The No. 4 Maryland (2-1) Terrapins fell for the first time in 2025 to No. 8 Boston College (3-0) 2-0 to open the B1G/ACC Challenge on Friday. The Eagles scored the go-ahead goal in the 3rd quarter and got an insurance goal in the 4th on a penalty shot.

A defensive first half that only featured five total shots and four corners saw the two top-ranked teams take a 0-0 tie into the half. Maryland's Jordyn Hollamon — last week's Big Ten Freshman of the Week — had three of her five total shots in the first half, but each team was still looking for the ice-breaking goal after 30 minutes of play.

It finally came midway through the 3rd quarter on a shot from Boston College's Melea Weber on the Eagles' third shot of the match. BC's Carolina Chisholm scored in the final frame to ice the win for Boston College.

How it Happened:
1st Quarter:
  • Boston College's Mia Garber recorded the match's first shot in the sixth minute.
  • Hollamon recorded Maryland's first shot in the 11th minute.
  • The 1st quarter featured three total shots as the Terps and Eagles battled defensively.
2nd Quarter:
  • Hollamon had all three of Maryland's first-half shots, two coming in the second quarter, but the teams remained locked 0-0 at the half.
3rd Quarter:
  • Boston College scored in the 37th minute on a shot from Weber.
  • The Eagles fought off a Maryland corner in the 41st minute.
  • UMD's Callie Rogers forced the BC goalkeeper to make a save on a great look in the 43rd minute.
  • Maryland continued to apply pressure with another corner late in the third quarter.
4th Quarter:
  • Boston College doubled its lead in the 51st minute on a penalty goal from Chisholm.
  • The Eagles fought off a pair of corners midway thought the 4th.
